Hundreds of households in Surrey have the opportunity to receive free supermarket vouchers valued at £300 to assist with living expenses. This initiative is part of the Household Support Fund provided by Surrey County Council to aid vulnerable families.
Residents of Surrey County Council can apply for the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher scheme if they are facing challenges in affording food and basic necessities. The vouchers are redeemable at various supermarkets such as Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose.
Eligibility for the scheme includes being a resident of Surrey over 18 years old, having household savings under £2,000 on average over a 90-day period, and an annual household income less than £27,007.50 before taxes and deductions.
Applicants are required to provide income details and information on household benefits. Application windows for the vouchers open monthly, with the next round available from February 3. If the current month’s window is missed, applications can be submitted again from March 2. For individuals outside Surrey seeking support, contacting their local council is recommended.
Other councils like Nottingham City Council are offering £100 vouchers to low-income individuals. The distribution of vouchers is random, with Wakefield Council providing food vouchers to low-income households receiving council tax assistance. Pensioners receiving Council Tax Support have received £70 vouchers, while other households will receive £50 or £70 vouchers based on eligibility criteria.
Blackpool Council is distributing £200 or £300 energy assistance to qualifying households based on household size. To access support, individuals must demonstrate financial hardship and challenges in bill payment, along with submitting recent bank statements for all household members.
