Sky has introduced a new feature called Device Priority for its internet users in the UK. This upgrade allows customers to have more control over the internet speeds allocated to each of their devices. For instance, if you need to attend an important Zoom call while other devices in your home are using the internet heavily, Device Priority enables you to prioritize your device for optimal speed.
According to Sky, this feature caters to various needs such as wearable tech, home appliances, remote work, 4K streaming, and gaming. By prioritizing devices within the household, users can maximize their WiFi experience. While other devices remain connected, the prioritized device receives the best performance.
With the increasing number of connected devices in homes, this update is seen as a significant improvement. Sky’s research indicates that the average household now has around 21 internet-dependent gadgets, leading to potential congestion issues. Device Priority aims to alleviate conflicts and disagreements over internet usage by creating a fast lane for prioritized devices.
Device Priority is included for users subscribed to Sky’s WiFi Max service at no extra charge. To activate this feature, users can access the settings through the MySky App. Once enabled, a device can be prioritized for up to 8 hours, ensuring a seamless internet experience.
This enhancement joins Sky Broadband’s WiFi Max service’s existing features, which include Sky’s WiFi guarantee, advanced security, parental controls, engineer visits, and Sky Mobile integration. Users who do not have Device Priority can add it for an additional £4 per month.
