The F1 season has commenced with George Russell emerging victorious in Melbourne. Throughout 2026, the F1 calendar will span various locations worldwide, offering avid fans an exciting lineup of races. Sky has recently announced a significant TV upgrade for customers, introducing new features aimed at enhancing the live sports viewing experience.
The forthcoming update will bring a fresh interactive dimension for viewers, including a smart sidebar that will appear during race weekends. This sidebar will provide access to tools like Race Control and Recap, allowing viewers to quickly revisit thrilling overtakes and pivotal moments. Additionally, viewers can easily check real-time in-race standings.
In addition to increased interactivity during races, the update will introduce dedicated driver and team pages. These pages will grant fans access to onboard cameras, enriched race data, informative content, and improved homepage navigation.
To access these new features, Sky Sports subscribers utilizing Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q devices will receive them at no extra cost. While an official launch date is yet to be confirmed, the upgrade is anticipated to be rolled out later in the season.
Sky stated in an email to Express.co.uk, “New for 2026, fans can look forward to even more flexibility and choice with a new immersive sidebar for TV viewing during race weekends.” Apart from the F1 upgrade, Sky has also unveiled a new Ultimate TV subscription plan. Priced at £24 per month, this plan bundles major streaming services like Disney+, Netflix, Hayu, and the upcoming HBO Max app in the UK.
The Ultimate TV package provides excellent value by consolidating around £20 worth of streaming services into a single offering. Subscribers will enjoy access to Netflix Standard with Ads, Disney+ Standard with Ads, HBO Max Basic with Ads, Hayu, and over 130 Sky channels.
