SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their original face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the new fines imposed on the ticket resale platform this month amount to a total of $22,500.
One of the fines, totaling $15,000, was issued for allegedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale at a price exceeding the authorized resale limit. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for allegedly failing to disclose the complete price of a ticket when purchased from an initial seller.
Both SeatGeek Canada and the province have not provided immediate responses regarding the specific events that led to the fines or whether the company intends to contest the penalties. Notably, the company had previously received fines totaling $25,000 in August for similar violations.
