In a unique situation, the leader of a group identifying themselves as an “African tribe” residing in the woods of Scotland remains undaunted by a court order mandating the removal of their encampment.

Identified as Kofi Offeh, who claims the title of King Atehene of the Kingdom of Kubala, confidently addressed the media following the issuance of the order at Jedburgh Sheriff Court. He expressed his lack of fear towards the court’s decision, emphasizing his belief in a higher power guiding them.

When confronted with the impending eviction due to the court order, Offeh defiantly stated, “Let them do their worst,” dismissing any concerns about the group being forced to vacate the land.

Responding to speculations that their lifestyle may soon come to an end, Offeh asserted that their way of life is not a mere fantasy but a prophecy that they are living out as it unfolds.

Regarding the prospect of relocating, Offeh remarked, “If the creator of the heavens and the earth wants us to move from this land, he shall find us a place to go,” showcasing a steadfast reliance on divine guidance.

Another member, Jean Gasho, also known as Queen Nandi, echoed the group’s resolve, stating they are unafraid of imprisonment, having already faced incarceration for their beliefs and actions.

The trio, claiming to be part of a self-proclaimed “kingdom,” assert that they are reclaiming land that was allegedly taken from their ancestors centuries ago. This civil dispute arose after the group disregarded a previous eviction notice instructing them to vacate by a specified date.

The group’s handmaiden, Asnat, who was previously reported missing from Texas, was eventually located with the group in Scotland. Formerly known as Kaura Taylor, she shared her journey of leaving her past life behind to join the “Kingdom of Kubala.”

Described as a church-goer and a high-school graduate with prior work experience, Taylor’s transformation into Asnat within the tribe was a significant decision influenced by her interactions with the self-proclaimed leaders over several months.

The group’s unwavering stand and unconventional lifestyle continue to draw attention and raise questions about their future in the face of legal challenges and societal norms.
