Famous for her role in the TV series EastEnders, Samantha Womack has shared details about her move from the United Kingdom to Spain. The actress and her partner, Oliver Farnworth, made the decision to relocate after Samantha battled breast cancer.
In 2022, Samantha’s health concerns led her to seek a breast examination, prompting the discovery of an irregular shape through a private ultrasound. Subsequent diagnosis revealed invasive ductal carcinoma that had spread to her lymph nodes.
Following the diagnosis, Samantha underwent surgery to remove five lymph nodes and underwent several rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Luckily, the cancer was detected early, and after five months, she received the news that she was cancer-free at 53 years old.
In 2023, Samantha and her partner embraced a new chapter in their lives by settling in a home located in the mountains of Valencia, Spain.
During an interview with The Metro newspaper, Samantha attributed her family’s passion for travel as a significant factor in their decision to move. She reminisced about her grandmother, a cruise ship choreographer, who exposed her to various destinations at a young age, instilling a love for travel and diverse cultures in her.
Despite Spain being her “happy place,” Samantha frequently returns to the UK for professional obligations, including her involvement in theatre productions after leaving EastEnders in 2017.
Although fans have expressed a desire for Samantha and her on-screen sister Rita Simons to reprise their roles on EastEnders, the dramatic departure of their characters presents challenges for a realistic return. Samantha acknowledged the possibility of returning to the show but emphasized the importance of doing so alongside Rita.
