“Rapist to Face Deportation from UK After Sentence”

A judge at Teesside Crown Court has ruled that a rapist, Jose Sibi, will face automatic deportation from the UK after serving two thirds of his sentence. Sibi, a 46-year-old from India who committed rape and attempted rape in Teesside, appeared in court after pleading guilty to the charges. The prosecutor noted that Sibi, who had no fixed abode, had a previously clean record. The victim expressed ongoing distress, stating that she struggles to sleep and lives in constant fear due to the traumatic experience. Despite Sibi’s admission of guilt, citing a drinking problem as part of his defense, the judge handed down a six-year sentence, a lifetime registration as a sexual offender, and a restraining order against contacting the victim. The judge emphasized that Sibi would be deported from the UK after serving a significant portion of his sentence, stating that deportation would occur at the two-thirds mark or sooner.
