A pub in West Dublin was targeted by a masked gunman last night, but quick-thinking patrons intervened to prevent any shots from being fired. Gardai responded to the incident at The 79 Inn in Ballyfermot after receiving reports of a man entering the establishment armed with a gun. Witnesses stated that customers inside the pub thwarted the gunman’s attempt to shoot by throwing a bar stool at him.
The individual believed to be the target managed to escape as the brave patrons subdued the assailant, who was wearing a balaclava, before fleeing the scene. Gardai swiftly arrived in the area following the incident, which is said to have stemmed from a verbal altercation earlier in the evening.
