Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step back from their royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States without immediate plans to return to the UK. However, over the past six years, the Duke of Sussex has made several visits back to his homeland.
Currently, Harry is preparing for another journey from California to London to provide testimony in his legal battle against Associated Newspapers Limited. Despite this trip, he does not intend to meet with his father, King Charles.
The last time the Duke of Sussex saw his father was in September 2025, during a brief visit to the UK for the WellChild awards. During this visit, Harry and Charles had a private tea at Clarence House.
In previous visits, Harry has often traveled to the UK alone while Meghan stayed in California with their children, Archie and Lilibet. The family of four did visit the UK for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
Shortly after, Harry and Meghan returned to the UK without their children following the passing of Queen Elizabeth. They joined Prince William and Princess Kate for events at Windsor Castle and attended Her Majesty’s funeral at Westminster Abbey.
Prince Harry’s first visit back to the UK after stepping back from royal duties occurred over a year after announcing his departure from royal life. In April 2021, Harry traveled solo to attend the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip.
Since then, Harry has made multiple trips to the UK for significant events within the Royal Family and charitable activities. He is scheduled for another visit in July this year to promote the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
