Olly Murs recently shared the endearing significance behind naming his son Albert, shortly after welcoming his first son into the world. The former X Factor contestant joyfully announced the expansion of his family as his wife, Amelia, gave birth to their second child, joining their daughter, Madison, born in April 2024.

In a social media post, Olly introduced their new addition, Albert, explaining that the name pays tribute to his great-grandfather, Edward ‘Albert’ Murs. The decision was inspired by Olly’s participation in the BBC show “Who Do You Think You Are?” in 2024, where he uncovered his family’s Latvian roots and learned about his ancestors’ intriguing past as circus performers.

During the show, Olly discovered a complex family history involving his great-grandparents, Edward and Veronika, revealing a tale of infidelity, wartime struggles, and heartbreaking separations. The journey led him to a poignant moment when he visited Veronika’s grave with his father, Peter, bringing emotional closure and a newfound connection to their heritage.

By exploring his family’s past, Olly found a way to honor his lineage and create a meaningful link to his roots, shaping the identity of his newborn son, Albert.
