Three security personnel working at a downtown Winnipeg nightclub have been arrested and charged with assault following an incident where a Winnipeg Sea Bears player sustained serious injuries earlier this month. The player, Teddy Allen, was hospitalized after the assault occurred in the early hours of August 3, as confirmed by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team.
The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, were taken into custody on Wednesday and face charges of assault causing bodily harm, according to a news release from the police issued on Thursday. They have all been released on undertakings. Although the nightclub was not identified by the authorities, it was disclosed to be situated on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues.
Teddy Allen has undergone medical examinations, received a diagnosis, and is presently recovering at home, as per a statement released by the team on Thursday. Allen expressed that the assault was unwarranted and should not have occurred, emphasizing his resilience and determination to bounce back.
