A tragic incident unfolded when Kiesha Weippeart, a six-year-old, met a horrifying fate after refusing to put on her pajamas one night, a seemingly innocent act turned deadly. Shockingly, her own mother, Kristi Anne Abrahams, was responsible for her brutal death, along with her partner, Robert Smith. Following Kiesha’s demise, Abrahams and Smith concealed her body in a suitcase at their residence, later disposing of it by burning and burying it in a shallow grave. They then falsely reported Kiesha missing, maintaining this deception for eight months.
Initially, Abrahams claimed that Kiesha had disappeared overnight, but authorities grew suspicious of her account, sensing crucial details were being withheld. Subsequently, Abrahams inadvertently confessed to an undercover police officer, tearfully revealing the tragic events leading to Kiesha’s death. She recounted a chilling incident where she nudged Kiesha, causing her to fall and sustain fatal injuries. Despite Abrahams’ desperate attempt to evade responsibility, she and Smith were apprehended after visiting Kiesha’s burial site on her birthday.
Postmortem findings exposed a history of severe child abuse inflicted on Kiesha before her death, indicating a pattern of violence towards her. Abrahams, aged 30 at the time, eventually pleaded guilty to Kiesha’s murder in 2010, leading to her conviction and imprisonment for the heinous crime. Smith, on the other hand, was sentenced to at least 12 years for manslaughter and being an accessory to murder, while Abrahams will be eligible for parole in 2027.
