Miranda Cosgrove recently shared insights into the selection process for her romantic comedy co-star, Pierson Fodé, and how her friends reacted to his casting. The well-known iCarly star takes the lead in Netflix’s latest film, “The Wrong Paris,” featuring Fodé, alongside Madison Pettis and Yvonne Orji.
The plot centers on Dawn (played by Cosgrove), a young woman accepted into her dream art school in Paris. However, financial constraints prevent her from traveling to Europe and sustaining herself upon arrival. Dawn’s fortunes shift when she learns of a dating show filmed in Paris seeking female contestants.
Initially planning to exploit the show for travel funds, Dawn unexpectedly secures a spot and discovers it is set in Paris, Texas. Amidst this mix-up, she finds a romantic connection with the show’s bachelor, Trey McAllen (portrayed by Fodé), complicating her study abroad ambitions.
As an executive producer of the film, Cosgrove had a hand in selecting her on-screen love interest. She disclosed that during chemistry reads, she was certain Fodé was the right fit. Her friends were equally convinced, expressing their approval of him as well.
Cosgrove praised Fodé as both a talented actor and a wonderful person. Despite their positive dynamic, she revealed a challenge during filming due to their significant height difference. Fodé, reportedly 6 feet 7 inches tall, and Cosgrove, around 5 feet 6 inches tall, required creative solutions such as Cosgrove standing on boxes for scenes to balance their heights.
“The Wrong Paris” is currently available for streaming on Netflix, offering viewers a blend of romance and comedy in a unique setting.
