A tragic incident in Manchester resulted in the death of a woman after being struck by a falling tree branch. Jen Higgins, aged 49, lost her life when a branch unexpectedly fell on her while she was walking along Barlow Moor Road in West Didsbury, Manchester, on August 30. Despite the swift arrival of emergency services at around 7:15 pm, Higgins could not be saved.
Higgins, who was the founder and joint managing director of the PR firm Carousel, had extensive experience spanning over 20 years in social media and PR campaigns. Her family released a poignant statement expressing their devastation over the sudden and tragic loss of a beloved wife, daughter, sister, daughter-in-law, aunt, and friend. They requested privacy during their mourning period and indicated that further updates would be provided in due course.
Known for her passion for live music, travel, and being a skilled multitasker with a robust network, Higgins was highly regarded in the Manchester business community. Witnesses recounted the tree branch breaking and falling, leading to the unfortunate incident. Local residents, some of whom were medical professionals, rushed to assist Higgins before emergency services arrived and cordoned off the area.
In response to the incident, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a woman in her 40s had tragically lost her life due to a fallen tree branch. The authorities ruled out any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
