London police have issued a rare public safety advisory following the release on bail of a 19-year-old man charged with offenses related to child sexual abuse material. The investigation was launched on July 28 after reports that the individual had made threats of harm, sexual assault, and homicide against a teenage girl known to him. Connor Bennett, 19, was taken into custody on July 30 for initially uttering threats of causing harm or death. Subsequently, he faced additional charges for the possession and access of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

Appearing in court on Tuesday, Bennett was granted bail, prompting the police to express “public safety concerns” and alert the community about his release. They are urging individuals with relevant information to come forward. As per the bail conditions, Bennett is required to reside in Thorold, Ont., near St. Catharines, refrain from using electronic devices or those with Wi-Fi capabilities, avoid contact with minors unless accompanied by his surety, and abstain from possessing any weapons.

Authorities are seeking assistance from the public in providing any additional details related to the ongoing investigation.
