A 31-year-old bartender known for his infectious smile was discovered deceased in his London apartment following a suspected heart attack. Matteo Leone was found unresponsive by his flatmates during the early hours of Sunday, January 4.
Emergency services were summoned promptly, but unfortunately, Matteo had passed away, presumably while asleep. While awaiting post-mortem results, preliminary indications suggest a potential heart attack as the cause of his untimely death.
Matteo, who appeared content in his role as a bartender in London, was captured in a photo beaming while crafting a cocktail at the Looking Glass Cocktail Club in Shoreditch.
Originally from Canosa di Puglia, near Bari, Matteo had relocated to London post-education to immerse himself in city life and enhance his English proficiency. His grief-stricken father, Graziano Leone, a police station chief in Pescara, flew to London on Sunday. Matteo is also survived by his mother and three siblings, with a vigil held in his honor at Shoreditch Park the previous evening.
Arrangements are being made to repatriate his remains to Italy. A friend, Mirko, penned a heartfelt message: “I’d like to scold you for leaving us like this. Your joyful presence, loud laughter, and melodious singing in the house will forever be cherished memories. Safe travels, Matté.”
