Kim Kardashian recently shared the challenges she faced during her tumultuous marriage to rapper Kanye West, with whom she has four children – North, Chicago, Psalm, and Saint. The celebrity couple, who got married in 2014, officially divorced in November 2022, agreeing to co-parent their kids.
In a candid conversation on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper, Kim disclosed that she was initially drawn to Kanye for his intellect and charismatic personality. Despite the initial excitement, their relationship deteriorated over time, leading Kanye to publicly criticize his own family.
Kim explained that she struggled to leave the relationship due to the presence of their children and her hopes for Kanye’s improvement, especially after his bipolar disorder diagnosis in 2016. However, as the situation failed to get better, she made the tough decision to prioritize her well-being and set a positive example for her kids by establishing boundaries and leaving the marriage.
Detailing the difficulties she faced, Kim mentioned feeling emotionally and financially insecure, citing instances where Kanye gave away their luxury cars impulsively during his episodes. The lack of stability and unpredictability in their daily lives became unsettling for her, prompting her to prioritize her own mental health and that of her children.
Looking ahead, Kim expressed her belief that her children would eventually understand and appreciate her decision for their overall well-being.
