The host of The National Television Awards, Joel Dommett, mistakenly joked about his relationship status with wife Hannah Cooper during a radio interview before the live ITV ceremony. Joel, who has been hosting the awards for the fifth consecutive year, shared about the busy week preparing for the event, celebrating his wedding anniversary, and his son’s birthday.
While on Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston’s Heart Breakfast Show, Joel made a playful remark that led to confusion about his marital status. He clarified that he and Hannah are still together after the momentary misunderstanding.
Joel and Hannah tied the knot in a beach ceremony in Mykonos, Greece, in 2019, and later welcomed their son, Wilde. Joel even recalled a humorous scenario where he had planned an “escape route” during the National Television Awards in case Hannah went into labor.
Discussing this year’s nominations, Amanda expressed doubt about Britain’s Got Talent’s chances against Strictly Come Dancing in the Talent Show category. However, she speculated that Claudia Winkleman might break Ant and Dec’s winning streak in the Best Presenter category, along with Gary Lineker entering the race for the first time.
Stacey Solomon, another nominee, has multiple chances for success in the Factual Entertainment category with her shows Sort Your Life Out and Stacey and Joe. The National Television Awards will air tonight at 8 pm on ITV and ITVX.
