Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including two women, as reported by the Lebanese Health Ministry. The Israeli military took action in response to alleged Hezbollah drone attacks within territories occupied by its forces, despite a ceasefire brokered by the United States with Hezbollah in June. The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed the fatalities of two men in a town near the Israeli-occupied zone and two women in Arab Salim, located north of the area under occupation.
Prior to the strikes, the Israeli military issued an evacuation warning for a building in Arab Salim, citing its use by Hezbollah. The strike resulted in the deaths of two girls and injuries to six others. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun’s office condemned the attacks, labeling them as a “dangerous escalation” that targeted civilian facilities, including a hospital and a Finance Ministry building. President Aoun held Israel accountable for the ongoing escalation and called for immediate international intervention to halt the violations and hold the perpetrators responsible.
The Israeli military stated that its targets included Hezbollah weapons storage sites and a command center within a former hospital building. It emphasized the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance to minimize civilian casualties. Sunday’s evacuation warning marked the second since the ceasefire announcement in June, with the first warning issued on August 5 in Mansouri near Tyre.
In a separate incident, four individuals were killed and 23 others were injured in Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon on Friday, with the Israeli military targeting Hezbollah weapons storage facilities. Hezbollah denounced Israel’s actions as an attempt to pressure the Lebanese government, which has been engaged in talks with Israel under U.S. mediation—a dialogue rejected by the Iran-backed group. Since March 2, over 4,300 people have lost their lives in Lebanon due to Israeli strikes following Hezbollah’s attack on Israel in support of Iran.
