Iranian state television has broadcast a disturbing threat against US President Donald Trump following his call for the restoration of Iran’s greatness. The broadcast featured an image of Trump with a bloody ear, accompanied by a message stating, “This time, the bullet won’t miss.”
Trump, in a statement at the White House, claimed that reliable sources informed him of a halt in execution plans in Iran, contradicting reports of ongoing crackdowns on protesters by Tehran authorities.
The president previously encouraged Iranians to continue protesting against the government, assuring them that assistance was forthcoming. He mentioned, “We’ve been told that the killing in Iran is stopping — it’s stopped — it’s stopping. And there’s no plan for executions, or an execution, or executions — so I’ve been told that on good authority.”
Activists reported that between 2,500 and 3,000 individuals have died since the start of protests in Iran two weeks ago. Iran’s justice chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, urged swift punishment for over 18,000 detained individuals through expedited trials and executions.
Families expressed anguish over the rapid sentencing of their loved ones, such as Erfan Soltani, a 26-year-old from Fardis near Tehran, who faced imminent hanging for participating in anti-government demonstrations.
Britain closed its embassy in Iran and recalled non-essential staff due to security concerns, advising its citizens against traveling to the country. A government representative stated, “We have temporarily closed the British Embassy in Tehran, this will now operate remotely.”
Additionally, the Foreign Office updated its travel advice to reflect the embassy closure and the current situation in Iran.
