Nationwide customers should take note of an important regulation regarding cash machine deposits. There are limits on the amount that can be deposited in a single day, which vary based on the payment method and type of funds used, with distinct restrictions for cash and cheques.

While Nationwide allows cheque deposits of up to £50,000 per day at its cash machines, with a maximum of £2,000 per cheque, the limit for cash deposits is set at £2,500 per day, with a maximum cash withdrawal of £500.

In addition to deposits and withdrawals, Nationwide cash machines offer other services. Customers should be aware that different regulations may apply at other banks. For further assistance, individuals are encouraged to visit a Nationwide branch. Currently, there are 605 branches operational in the UK, providing support for cash transactions and offering services like ordering counter drafts for larger sums.

Nationwide’s commitment to keeping all 605 branches open until at least 2030 is part of its Branch Promise initiative, as a response to the widespread closure of bank branches in the UK. According to data from Which?, over 6,600 bank and building society branches have shut down since January 2015, averaging about 53 closures per month. Notable banks contributing to this trend include Lloyds, Halifax, NatWest, and Ulster Bank, with Barclays leading in branch closures.

Individuals impacted by the branch closures can utilize the Post Office’s 11,684 branches, where essential banking services are available, including cash withdrawals, cash and cheque deposits, and balance inquiries. Certain Nationwide account holders can also access these services at the Post Office, with a withdrawal limit of £500 for eligible accounts.

The Post Office collaborates with major UK banks to offer a range of services, such as cash withdrawals, deposits, and balance checks. Customers are advised to check with their specific bank for any applicable charges on selected services. However, services like account opening and loan applications are not available at Post Offices.

For more details and to find the nearest Post Office branch, individuals can visit the Post Office website.
