A man attending a bachelor party was viciously attacked by two ravenous hyenas that dragged him out of his tent at a game reserve in South Africa. Nicolas Hohls, 27, was asleep in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park when the predators entered his tent after a night of heavy drinking. Photos show the South African farmer recovering in the hospital with injuries to his head, face, hand, and leg.
Nicolas bravely fought back by sticking his hand into one hyena’s mouth and clawing at its eyes, causing the animals to retreat when his father, Colin, rushed to the scene with a torch. Colin recounted the horrifying incident where the hyenas attempted to drag Nicolas out of the tent as he screamed in pain. Despite the quick intervention, Nicolas was left severely injured and required plastic surgery on his face and hand.
The family, who had been camping at the site for nearly two decades, expressed concerns about the increasing presence of wild animals in the area. Officials revealed that the attack occurred due to campers leaving their tent partially open after a celebration. Steps are being taken to capture the hyenas that have been wandering around the campsite.
Authorities emphasized the importance of not feeding wild animals and ensuring tents are securely closed at night to prevent similar incidents. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife assured visitors of their commitment to capturing the hyenas and urged campers to be cautious in the wildlife park environment.
