Christian Horner’s recent appearance at a MotoGP race has sparked speculation about a potential shift into a different motorsport arena. The former Red Bull team principal was seen at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez, hinting at a possible interest in the premier class of two-wheeled motorsport.

Since his departure from Red Bull last year, Horner has been exploring opportunities to re-enter the F1 scene. Despite being associated with roles at Aston Martin and Alpine, he has yet to secure a position within the sport.

Toto Wolff, Horner’s former rival from Mercedes, suggested that a return to F1 might be challenging for Horner due to past controversies. With MotoGP now under the ownership of F1’s parent company, Liberty Media, it could offer Horner a fresh avenue to explore.

Horner, known for his close ties with Honda during their engine partnership with Red Bull, was seen at the Honda garage during the weekend’s practice session, engaging in discussions with key figures from Honda Racing Corporation and Ducati.

Expressing his admiration for MotoGP, Horner mentioned his long-standing interest in the sport and his appreciation for its evolution under new ownership. He also expressed curiosity about exploring other forms of motorsport during his visit.

In a separate development, Wolff’s potential interest in acquiring a stake in Alpine could complicate Horner’s route back to F1. However, Wolff clarified that any stake acquisition by Mercedes is not connected to Horner’s involvement and emphasized that they are assessing the investment from different perspectives.

Should Horner decide to venture into MotoGP, he would join former F1 team principal Guenther Steiner, who led a consortium in purchasing the Red Bull KTM Tech3 outfit last year. The MotoGP weekend featured an exciting sprint race won by Marc Marquez, setting the stage for the main Grand Prix event.

Additionally, Sky has enhanced its TV and Sky Sports bundle to include various streaming services along with extensive coverage of Formula 1, making it a comprehensive option for sports enthusiasts.
