Reddit experienced a global outage this evening, with users worldwide, including those in the US and UK, encountering issues with both the Reddit website and app, as reported on DownDetector. A significant increase in problem reports was observed on DownDetector earlier in the evening.
Following the outage, frustrated social media users took to platforms to express their discontent, with one individual on X exclaiming, “#Reddit is down again!” Reddit had previously acknowledged an issue on January 18 where users faced errors related to posts or comments containing images or videos. The company swiftly addressed the problem, resolving it soon after.
The day before this incident, Reddit users encountered elevated error rates when uploading images or creating accounts, which was also promptly fixed. DownDetector recorded over 1,000 individuals reporting app issues since 9:27 pm the same evening. Numerous users globally, including in the US and UK, shared their problems with Reddit on DownDetector.
