Five teenagers have been taken into custody on suspicion of committing murder following the discovery of a deceased man in Stockton. Cleveland Police responded to a call at Egglescliffe Close in the Hardwick area of Stockton around 6:50 pm on Saturday, where the lifeless body of a 49-year-old male was found.
According to a report by TeessideLive, a 19-year-old male, two 18-year-old males, and two 17-year-old boys were apprehended overnight in connection with the alleged murder and have been detained by the authorities. Witnesses observed a significant police presence on Sunday morning, with police cars and a section of a car wash and bushes cordoned off in the vicinity. Law enforcement had been on the scene since approximately 8:00 pm.
Cleveland Police issued a statement confirming the arrests, stating, “Five individuals were taken into custody overnight under suspicion of involvement in a murder incident in Stockton the previous evening. Upon responding to a call at Egglescliffe Close in Stockton at approximately 6:50 pm on Saturday, January 10, officers discovered the deceased 49-year-old male.”
The police further added, “A 19-year-old male, two 18-year-old males, and two 17-year-old boys were detained overnight on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody. We are cognizant of video material related to this incident circulating on social media platforms. We urge the public not to disseminate this content further, as it could compromise legal processes.
