A British man’s dream vacation in Thailand turned into a nightmare when his ex-girlfriend sought revenge by sabotaging his trip. William Barr’s eagerly anticipated holiday in Thailand last October took an unexpected turn when he was detained at the airport due to his ex-girlfriend, Rosie Wood, maliciously invalidating his passport out of spite.
Upon his arrival for the two-week getaway, William was shocked to learn that his passport had been falsely reported as lost, stolen, or revoked. Despite his attempts to clarify the situation with Thai authorities, he was detained and sent back to the UK.
Following the ordeal, William recounted the chaotic events that transpired at the airport and promptly involved the police in investigating the incident. Subsequent inquiries revealed that Wood had utilized her broadband account to invalidate William’s passport. During police questioning, Wood admitted to her actions, explaining that she was upset because he had left her children.
Wood, residing in Iverkeithing, appeared in court where she confessed to falsely reporting William’s passport status to cause him distress. In court, her defense attorney acknowledged Wood’s remorse and financial struggles. Despite the seriousness of the situation and the impact on William’s holiday plans, Wood received a community payback order, 12 months of supervision, and 167 hours of unpaid work. Additionally, she was ordered to compensate William with £500 given her financial constraints.
