A young British explorer recently uncovered an abandoned MOD barracks in London, describing it as eerie, with dark rooms and creaking corridors. Chloe Urbex, known for her online escapades at spooky locations like abandoned hospitals and derelict race tracks, stumbled upon this forgotten site left neglected for 50 years due to its outdated design. The barracks, intended for soldiers’ living quarters, had been replaced by a modern facility a few miles away, leaving this one to decay.

Chloe documented her exploration of the deteriorating building on Instagram, capturing images of peeling ceilings, broken windows, decaying stairs, and remnants like keys, electricity boxes, and old signs. Among her discoveries were abandoned rooms with eerie remnants, including a sign that read “Quiet please, night duty staff sleeping.” The post showcasing the abandoned MOD Barracks garnered significant attention and sparked a discussion on repurposing such neglected structures.

In a similar vein, another urban explorer, Sean Piper, uncovered an abandoned pub in Kent that had been closed for nearly two decades. The Harrow, once a thriving local establishment, now stood in disrepair with signs of decay worsening over time. Sean described the musty smell and severe mold that greeted him upon entering the abandoned pub, noting unusual sights like menus still on display and a half-finished pint left on the counter, hinting at a sudden closure as if patrons were expected to return.

Furthermore, Sean observed that the bar remained stocked with bottles of alcohol, a ghostly reminder of the pub’s past glory. The scene inside The Harrow painted a picture of a place frozen in time, as if awaiting the return of its patrons, despite years of neglect. Both Chloe and Sean’s explorations shed light on forgotten spaces that hold stories of the past, urging discussions on the preservation or revitalization of such abandoned sites.
