A specialist in energy has shared the precise temperature at which you should heat your house to prevent mold growth.

Mold is a common issue that, if ignored, can lead to severe health problems. It develops due to excessive moisture and can manifest on walls and ceilings.

To combat mold growth, there are preventive measures you can take. Ben Gallizzi, an energy expert at Uswitch.com, has outlined the recommended temperature range to hinder mold spores.

Speaking to The Sun, Gallizzi advised, “Maintaining a warm home can prevent mold buildup during the colder months. The Energy Saving Trust recommends that individuals in good health maintain a household temperature between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius.”

Additionally, it is essential to ensure that your home temperature does not fall below 15 degrees Celsius to prevent condensation. Condensation occurs when warm air meets a cold surface.

This advice comes amidst the upcoming increase in energy bills for the winter season. Ofgem’s price cap will elevate from £1,720 to £1,755 for a standard dual fuel household that pays via direct debit.

The new price cap will be effective from October 1 and will remain until December 31, with further adjustments anticipated. Consumers on a standard variable rate (SVR) tariff will be subject to the Ofgem price cap, excluding those with fixed-rate contracts.

It is important to note that there is no absolute cap on energy costs, as bills are calculated based on actual energy consumption.

The Ofgem price cap limits the charges for gas and electricity usage, including fixed daily standing charges for energy network connections.
