A fervent tennis fan, known for his enthusiastic support of Emma Raducanu, was ejected from the Australian Open for being too disruptive. James Bray gained attention when Raducanu acknowledged him after winning a match. Despite his newfound fame, Bray’s behavior during another match led to his removal from the Rod Laver Arena for being excessively loud.
The fan documented his eviction on social media, showing police officers instructing him to leave for 24 hours and issuing a fine. Bray sarcastically expressed his gratitude for being ousted from the event due to his exuberant support.
Although disappointed, Bray found the situation somewhat amusing as he was escorted out. He mentioned feeling unfairly treated for cheering on his favorite player, Alex de Minaur, and denied being disrespectful. Tennis Australia confirmed that Bray had been warned multiple times before being expelled.
Authorities stated that Bray’s behavior had disrupted other spectators despite repeated warnings to cease his disruptive actions. Victoria Police reported that 21 individuals were removed from the tennis venue for various incidents, highlighting the overall positive crowd behavior at the Australian Open.
