Davina McCall recently shared the unexpected turn in her long-standing friendship with hairstylist Michael Douglas that evolved into something deeper. The 57-year-old TV host and her 51-year-old partner have been acquainted for more than two decades, initially connecting during Davina’s tenure as a presenter on “Big Brother” when Michael styled her hair.
Their relationship transcended the typical hairstylist-client dynamic over time. Michael began bringing his children to Davina’s home while tending to her hair, and they grew to view each other as “family friends.”
Following her divorce from Matthew Robertson in 2017, Davina and Michael didn’t embark on a romantic relationship until two years later. When questioned about the shift from friendship to romance, Davina described it as a sudden and unforeseen event, akin to a lightning bolt.
Despite the unexpected nature of their relationship transition, Davina emphasized her cautious approach post-divorce, stating her commitment to monogamy. They faced challenges together, including Davina’s health scare in 2024 when she underwent brain surgery to remove a benign cyst.
Their bond, characterized by what Davina terms “radical honesty,” was tested during her recovery, with Michael candidly admitting to finding her annoying at times. Fortunately, after a successful operation and recovery, Davina received positive news in April 2025 that the tumor is not recurring.
Back hosting ITV’s “Long Lost Family,” Davina credits Michael for his unwavering support during her ordeal. Despite speculation, the couple is in no rush to marry, with Davina expressing contentment in their current state.
