The Canadian women’s basketball team concluded the group stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament with a 70-64 victory against the home team Mexico in Guadalajara on Thursday night. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points while Syla Swords contributed 17 points to secure Canada’s 3-0 record. Mariana Valenzuela scored 17 points for Mexico.
Canada is scheduled to face New Zealand in the semifinals on Saturday, while the host team will compete against Brazil. The tournament’s final match will take place on Sunday. The winner of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
