A large black bear known as Yellow 2120 took up residence under a Los Angeles home for over a month, causing damage to the property. The homeowner, Ken Johnson, sought help from wildlife officials and then enlisted the aid of a California-based non-profit organization called BEAR League. The group successfully encouraged the bear to leave by using specialized tactics, including placing an “unwelcome” mat that delivers an electric shock.
Despite causing extensive damage, the bear was safely evicted from the property. Johnson, who had tried various methods to deter the bear, expressed relief at the successful removal. Following the eviction, the bear briefly returned before moving on from the area. Johnson described the experience of having the bear under his house as unsettling and challenging, especially after facing personal difficulties due to a previous wildfire incident.
The homeowner’s persistence in seeking a solution to the bear intrusion paid off, leading to the safe removal of the bear and minimizing further property damage.
