Bulgaria has been recommended as the top destination for an affordable summer vacation this year, particularly for families seeking a good deal. TravelSupermarket has disclosed that Bulgaria tops the list of cost-effective countries for all-inclusive sunny holidays in 2026, with an average cost of £760 per person for a week-long trip. Following closely behind are Morocco at £852 per person and Malta at £862.

A recent analysis of family holiday searches from last October to the present, for travel between May and September 2026, revealed significant price variations across popular travel destinations. Bulgaria stands out as the most budget-friendly option, with costs decreasing by £54 per person compared to the previous summer. Conversely, Cyprus emerged as the most expensive choice at £1,186 per person.

Spain, known for its popularity among British tourists, secured the fourth position on this year’s list with an average cost of £888 per person, a price point consistent with 2025. Turkey and Greece followed in 11th and 12th places, with average expenses of £1,057 and £1,096, respectively.

Croatia is ranked as the 10th most affordable destination this summer, with an average cost of £1,046 per person. However, prices for a typical vacation in Croatia have decreased by 12% since last year, making it £136 more budget-friendly this season.

For long-haul travelers, TravelSupermarket highlighted Cape Verde as the best value destination at £1,247 per person, trailed by the United Arab Emirates (£1,297), the Dominican Republic (£1,664), and Mexico (£1,694).

Chris Webber, head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, commented on the findings, stating, “Bulgaria seems poised to reclaim its position as the go-to affordable all-inclusive destination. Despite some increases, Tunisia and Morocco remain among the top five cheapest countries, providing excellent value for families. Croatia, which was becoming known as a pricey spot, has seen a significant 12% price decrease, making it more accessible for families considering this beautiful destination.”
