Tommy Fury has stirred up controversy recently following a video showing him pushing another runner during the Great North Run last weekend.
The 26-year-old boxer and reality TV personality, known for his unique running style, was seen pushing a fellow competitor in the final moments of the race from Newcastle to South Shields. Fury gained attention earlier in the year for his strong finish at the Tatton 10km race, where his powerful physique set him apart.
After completing a challenging 100km triathlon on the French Riviera, Fury participated in the half marathon, finishing in 1:34:35. However, a short TikTok clip capturing him elbowing a runner at the finish line has sparked criticism.
Social media users expressed their disapproval, with one stating, “Actually annoyed me that he’s pushed that innocent man,” and another questioning, “Why’s he pushing people out of his way?” Some suggested that such behavior should lead to disqualification.
It was later revealed that the runner pushed by Fury was running for Muscular Dystrophy UK, intensifying the backlash.
Diarmaid Warner, a 38-year-old runner and plumber, spoke out about the incident, recounting how Fury pushed past him as he approached the final corner of the race. Warner expressed his disappointment, citing it as a breach of race etiquette.
Warner identified Fury as the person who pushed him aside and shared the incident with his wife. Warner’s mother also took to social media, praising her son as the true hero for finishing ahead of Tommy Fury by 12 minutes.
As of now, Fury has not publicly addressed the controversy. The Mirror has reached out to his representatives for comment.
