One year has passed since the tragic passing of Liam Payne, and authorities are still reviewing 800 hours of CCTV footage related to the death of the One Direction star. Liam, who gained fame as a member of the popular boy band One Direction, tragically died on October 16, 2024, after a fatal fall from his third-floor hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

At the time of his death, the 31-year-old Wolverhampton-born singer was far from home and his young son Bear, whom he shared with singer Cheryl. The news of Liam’s death sparked an outpouring of grief worldwide, with fans holding vigils in various cities to honor his memory.

In January 2025, a UK inquest determined that Liam’s cause of death was polytrauma, involving multiple bodily injuries. A toxicology report also revealed the presence of cocaine, alcohol, and prescription antidepressants in his system.

Two suspects, Braian Paiz, 25, and Ezequl David Pereya, 22, have been accused of supplying drugs to Liam. Both individuals deny the allegations and are currently detained pending further legal proceedings. Despite the charges, no trial date has been scheduled as of now.

Paiz, who worked at a hotel, expressed concerns about his safety while in custody and denied being involved in drug trafficking, claiming he was simply a bystander who happened to meet a celebrity. He recounted his past interactions with Liam while serving him at a restaurant in Buenos Aires.

Authorities in Argentina are still reviewing extensive CCTV footage and digital evidence related to Liam’s case. The investigation has been described as slow and frustrating, with delays in processing crucial information. Liam’s family remains hopeful for a trial to bring closure and are being kept informed of the ongoing developments.

As the investigation continues, the focus remains on gathering evidence for potential court proceedings. Liam Payne’s story has garnered significant attention, with many awaiting the conclusion of the legal process for justice.
