Sir AP McCoy has shared his thoughts on the future plans for Constitution Hill, a promising jumps horse. Constitution Hill, who won the 2023 Champion Hurdle and had a flawless record in ten races, faced setbacks at the Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National meeting at Aintree.
Despite these disappointments, trainer Nicky Henderson prepared Constitution Hill for a comeback at the Fighting Fifth Hurdle in Newcastle. Unfortunately, the horse fell again during the race won by Golden Ace.
Henderson has dismissed retirement for Constitution Hill and is considering transitioning the horse to Flat racing. AP McCoy provided his insights on the situation, expressing reluctance to give up on the horse’s hurdling career due to its potential.
On the other hand, Barry Geraghty, a William Hill ambassador involved in the horse’s initial purchase, suggested exploring alternative training methods to improve Constitution Hill’s jumping skills before considering any further racing options.
Decisions regarding Constitution Hill’s future direction remain challenging, with differing opinions on how best to proceed.
