Former TV actor John Alford, known for his roles in “London’s Burning” and “Grange Hill,” is facing allegations of sexually abusing two underage girls at a party, according to court proceedings.
The 53-year-old, whose real name is John Shannon, is accused of engaging in sexual activities with the girls, one of which allegedly occurred in a garden and a toilet. Prosecutors claim he performed sexual acts on the girls knowing they were under 16 years old.
Alford has denied six charges, including engaging in sexual activities with underage girls. The incidents are said to have taken place on April 9, 2022, at a property in Hertfordshire after a night out at a pub.
During the trial at St Albans Crown Court, it was revealed that Alford was with the girls at a party where they were drinking and socializing. The girls, both under 16, were allegedly left alone with Alford, who then engaged in sexual activities with them.
Alford allegedly provided alcohol to the girls and initiated sexual encounters, despite one of the girls expressing discomfort. The girls did not immediately report the assaults due to being intoxicated.
The allegations came to light when one of the girls’ mothers reported the incidents to the police. Alford was subsequently arrested after the girls were interviewed.
In his defense, Alford claimed that the girls were trying to extort money from him and that they misrepresented their age. However, no evidence supporting these claims was found on their phones.
The trial, which had been postponed due to Alford’s health issues, is ongoing. Alford, originally from Holloway, north London, has had a varied career in television and music, with notable appearances in popular shows and films.
