Discovering a pair of matching socks in the dryer, someone replacing the toilet roll, or stumbling upon the last ice cream hidden in the freezer are among the top 20 ‘home wins’ that bring joy to people’s lives.
A recent survey of 2,000 adults unveiled that 45% find comfort in fresh sheets on the bed, while 36% are thrilled to receive a parcel earlier than expected. Additionally, 26% savor the moment when their ‘washing basket zero’ signifies no more laundry to do, and 24% delight in catching their favorite film starting on TV. Interestingly, seven out of ten individuals who have experienced these small victories believe that they can turn a bad day into a good one.
Cadbury Ice Cream conducted the study in conjunction with the launch of its ‘They’ll be Huge In Your House’ campaign, introducing the brand’s Dairy Milk sticks in miniature size.
Kim Jacks, representing the brand, commented, “This launch has demonstrated that even small things can have a significant impact. To celebrate this notion, we aimed to explore other small but meaningful moments that hold importance in people’s homes.
“Bringing to light these everyday joys that are secretly significant in households showcases the positive effect they can have on lifting one’s spirits. While wins are not limited to the confines of the home, there is a unique satisfaction in celebrating them within the home environment.”
The research also highlighted that nearly half of those who experience a small win at home actively celebrate these moments, with one in 20 fortunate individuals encountering them daily.
Among the celebrants, it is common practice to create similar ‘wins’ for other household members, with over three-quarters engaging in such acts.
These gestures may include cooking a loved one’s favorite meal (49%), letting them choose the TV program (42%), or taking over one of their chores (41%). Additionally, 28% surprise their family members by stocking the freezer with their favorite ice cream as a special treat.
Regarding moments like enjoying ice cream as a home win, almost a quarter of respondents prefer to share these experiences with the entire household, with 34% opting to do so in the garden during favorable weather conditions.
When it comes to indulging in sweet treats in general, 36% desire to enjoy them without interruptions, while 21% prefer to sneak a treat before anyone notices.
Overall, respondents believe that these victories serve as a reminder to be grateful for what they have (37%) and provide a sense of control over their lives (32%), according to data from OnePoll.com.
Kim further stated, “We enjoyed uncovering these small yet significant aspects of households, all of which can be cherished and enjoyed in their own way.
