Pop star Taylor Swift may soon have to testify in the legal battle between her former friend, actress Blake Lively, and actor Justin Baldoni. Lively sued Baldoni last year, alleging emotional distress and other grievances stemming from his behavior during a project they worked on together. In response, Baldoni filed counterclaims, including accusations of extortion and defamation against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist Leslie Sloane.
The friction between Lively and Swift escalated when Swift’s name was brought into Lively’s ongoing legal dispute with her co-star, Justin. Allegations emerged that Lively attempted to pressure Swift into publicly supporting her harassment claims against Justin and that certain text messages were deleted.
A recent development revealed that Swift has been requested to participate in a deposition related to the case, scheduled for the week starting October 20. Baldoni’s legal team aims to extend the deadline to accommodate Swift’s professional commitments. Baldoni’s lawyer clarified that the deposition request was specific to Swift’s availability during that period due to her prior engagements.
Earlier this year, the judge dismissed Baldoni’s multimillion-dollar countersuit and defamation claims against The New York Times. Reports suggest that Swift and Lively have severed communication ties, with speculation arising about Swift’s new album potentially referencing their strained relationship. Swift’s upcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” is rumored to feature a track named “Ruin the Friendship,” which some believe alludes to her connection with Lively.
The Mirror has sought comments from Swift’s representatives on the matter.
