Formula 1 chief Stefano Domenicali has expressed his intention to leverage the sport as a platform for fostering global solidarity. Despite recent Israeli military actions near the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar, Domenicali has affirmed that the Qatar Grand Prix is still on track for its scheduled date later this year.

A series of explosions occurred in Doha, the capital of Qatar, following an Israeli strike targeting Hamas leaders in the region. This aggressive move has sparked international criticism and raised concerns about the safety of hosting significant sporting events in the area.

The final two races of the F1 season are slated to occur in the Middle East, with the Lusail race scheduled for November 30 and the season finale in Abu Dhabi a week later. Domenicali, the F1 CEO, has stated that while the situation is being closely monitored, there are no current indications that the races will be impacted.

In an interview with The Observer, Domenicali acknowledged the tragic events but emphasized the importance of staying positive. He highlighted the unique global reach of F1 and its potential to unite diverse nations and individuals during times of division.

Among those condemning the attacks in Doha was Keir Starmer, who labeled the Israeli actions as unacceptable. During discussions with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, the UK Prime Minister reiterated the need for respecting sovereignty and pursuing peaceful resolutions.

Formula 1 enthusiasts can now access live coverage of every practice, qualifying session, and race through Sky’s latest Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering substantial savings and including access to over 100 TV channels, as well as complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.

During a session of Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons, Starmer reiterated his condemnation of the Israeli strikes in Doha, highlighting the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and emphasizing the importance of working towards peace with the Emir of Qatar. Efforts are being made to achieve a diplomatic resolution and promote peaceful coexistence in the region.
