A driver involved in a gangland shooting incident where a nine-year-old girl and three men were injured has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 34 years. Javon Riley, convicted of multiple charges including attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm to the young girl, was captured on camera picking up the gunman following the attack at a restaurant in London.
Riley, hailing from Tottenham, was seen on video footage waiting in a stolen car for the gunman, who shot at the victims before fleeing on a motorcycle. Despite claiming he thought it was a simple theft, Riley was found guilty of causing severe harm to the young girl, who sustained a serious injury with long-lasting consequences.
The court also found Riley guilty of attempting to murder three men associated with a rival gang. Evidence presented indicated that Riley played a crucial role in planning and executing the shooting, which was part of a longstanding feud between criminal groups in the area.
Although the gunman remains at large, Riley’s involvement was deemed significant in the incident. Surveillance footage captured the dramatic moments leading up to the shooting, showing the gunman firing multiple shots in a brief period, resulting in injuries to the victims.
During sentencing, the judge highlighted the history of violence between the involved gangs and emphasized the need to address such criminal activities to prevent further harm to innocent individuals.
In response to the case, the mother of the young girl expressed the devastating impact of the incident on her daughter’s life and their family. She described the ongoing challenges and emotional toll caused by the tragic event, urging the community to come forward with any information that could lead to the apprehension of the gunman.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dalloway announced a reward for information leading to the arrest of the gunman, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in bringing the perpetrator to justice and ensuring the safety of the public.
