The Met Office has issued a new weather warning for Storm Amy, predicting hail and thunderstorms for the UK. Brits are bracing for turbulent weather ahead, including heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds affecting various regions across the country. This forecast is attributed to a low-pressure system moving in from the Atlantic Ocean, set to bring inclement weather conditions.

Chief Meteorologist Paul Gundersen from the Met Office highlighted the intensifying low-pressure area over the North Atlantic, indicating a likelihood of impactful weather conditions in the UK, primarily expected on Sunday and Monday. Although the possibility of a named storm is currently low, the weather situation remains under monitoring.

Storm Amy is approaching the UK, expected to bring heavy showers and gusty winds over the weekend. The forecast includes a mix of sunshine and blustery showers, with a potential for hail and thunder, particularly in western regions on Thursday.

Meteorologist Alex Burkill mentioned a showery day with frequent heavy showers in western parts of Scotland on Thursday morning. Temperatures are anticipated to drop due to clear skies following the front, with some areas experiencing single-digit temperatures. Showers are expected to persist throughout the day, originating from the west-northwest direction.

Coastal areas may experience stronger gales, while the east is likely to see drier conditions with limited sunshine and cool temperatures. However, tonight’s weather may bring unpleasant conditions with thunder and rainfall continuing.

The Met Office’s weather outlook for Friday to Sunday indicates changeable conditions with sunny spells and blustery showers, possibly heavy with a risk of hail and thunder. More sustained rain could arrive on Sunday, maintaining a cool feel throughout the weekend.

Looking ahead, unsettled weather conditions are projected to persist into the following week, with additional showers expected from Monday through Wednesday.
