A car accident outside a popular resort in Ibiza has left a British tourist hospitalized after three young holidaymakers were struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred on Calle Moli in front of the On the Bay restaurant at the Playa des Pouet resort in Spain. Witnesses reported that a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon veered off the road onto the pavement, hitting the three young women and knocking down a lamppost before coming to a stop near a pedestrian crossing.
Upon the accident, bystanders rushed to the scene, followed by emergency services, including lifeguards from Playa des Pouet and local police patrols with three ambulances from the 061 Emergency Service. The injured women were promptly treated on-site before being taken to a medical facility.
According to reports from The Sun, one of the victims is a British tourist, but her identity remains undisclosed, along with the identities of the other two women. Witnesses mentioned that two of the girls seemed to be in critical condition, while the third sustained foot injuries. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, with the driver, described as a young man around 30 years old, being interviewed to ascertain the accident’s circumstances.
The collision has sparked concerns in the area, especially as it occurred during a busy time with many people enjoying the beach and nearby establishments. This incident follows a recent tragedy involving two British women, Ebony Cordingley, 26, and Lauren Holmes, 27, who were hit by a taxi while vacationing in Ibiza. The friends from Bradford, West Yorkshire, were struck by a speeding taxi on August 26 and are still receiving intensive care in Ibiza.
The authorities have identified the car involved in the taxi incident as a Toyota Corolla, driven by a 24-year-old Spaniard, with no confirmation of any arrests made. The Civil Guard spokesperson confirmed that both victims are British nationals, aged 26 and 27, and the incident took place on the El-600 road between Ibiza and San Antonio in San Antonio municipality.
