Manchester United swiftly acted upon Harry Maguire’s transfer request for squad improvements during the summer. The defender’s prediction of significant changes in the transfer window came to fruition as Ruben Amorim revamped the team composition.

The club bolstered their attacking prowess by acquiring Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko for a total investment of approximately £200 million. Although Sesko joined Old Trafford later, all three players are integral to Amorim’s new starting lineup.

Goalkeeper Senne Lammens, signed from Royal Antwerp on deadline day, is poised to assume the No. 1 role amid uncertainties surrounding current keepers Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

Noteworthy departures include 12 players leaving United permanently or on loan. While Antony and Alejandro Garnacho departed permanently, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Rasmus Hojlund left on temporary deals.

Despite a slow start to the season, Amorim has been provided the resources to reshape the team, as advocated by Maguire during the summer. The club’s financial strength, with a net spend of around £160 million, reflects their commitment to Amorim’s project.

Maguire has seen limited playing time this season, with Amorim opting for a defensive trio of Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw, and Matthijs de Ligt. The team’s transition phase may take time, but United’s proactive approach indicates their determination to return to the top.
