Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed frustration over receiving unsolicited beauty advice. Frederiksen, 48, took to Instagram on Monday after returning from Ukraine, where she faced air raid sirens during the ongoing conflict, only to find a message from a plastic surgeon offering to address a perceived flaw on her nose. She revealed that she has received numerous messages critiquing her appearance over the years, including comments on her teeth, hair, and a supposed “wart” on her nose, along with suggestions for Botox injections.
Frederiksen shared a screenshot of the plastic surgeon’s offer without disclosing the identity of the individual. In response, she asserted her contentment with her body and expressed that she does not require unsolicited opinions on her appearance from a male plastic surgeon.
As a Social Democrat and Denmark’s second female prime minister, Frederiksen is currently serving her third term, positioning her as one of Europe’s most established leaders. Since mid-2019, she has led the European Union and NATO member country. Frederiksen has remained firm in her opposition to U.S. President Donald Trump’s interests in Greenland, a semi-autonomous region of Denmark, and has shown continuous support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
Emphasizing her acceptance of her body as she nears 50, Frederiksen urged individuals to engage in more meaningful conversations rather than focusing on superficial aspects like her appearance. She expressed feeling indignant about the unsolicited beauty advice and extended empathy to others facing similar pressures to conform to unrealistic beauty standards.
