“Sainsbury’s Unveils Personalized Discounts with Your Nectar Prices”

Sainsbury’s is introducing a significant update to its Nectar loyalty program, offering potential savings for shoppers. Starting from July 25, customers at supermarkets nationwide will have access to Your Nectar Prices at checkout. This feature provides personalized discounts of up to ten offers per week, tailored to individual shopping patterns.

Previously, these exclusive discounts were only accessible through SmartShop, the Sainsbury’s grocery app, and online platforms. Sainsbury’s highlights that these weekly offers, refreshed every Friday, could potentially save the average shopper £150.

Mark Given, Sainsbury’s Chief Marketing, Data, and Sustainability Officer, emphasized the importance of personalized loyalty benefits. According to Given, customers value feeling recognized and rewarded, and the Your Nectar Prices initiative aims to deliver extra savings on preferred products.

In terms of the Nectar loyalty program, customers earn one point for every £1 spent in stores, where each Nectar point is equivalent to 0.5p in value, translating to a 0.5% cashback rate. Additionally, Nectar points can be accumulated not only through purchases at Sainsbury’s but also at Sainsbury’s fuel stations and partner brands like eBay, Expedia, and Just Eat.

This move by Sainsbury’s comes alongside the closure of all in-store changing rooms, requiring shoppers to try on clothing items from the TU range at home. Some customers voiced their dissatisfaction with this decision, expressing frustration over the lack of changing room facilities.

Earlier in April, Sainsbury’s shut down its remaining 61 in-store cafes. The supermarket had forewarned about potential cost escalations due to tax increases from the October Budget, which could lead to price hikes for consumers.
