Apple has introduced a new update to its Self Service Repair program, now allowing users to fix their iPads at home. This initiative aims to extend the lifespan of products and reduce electronic waste. Users can purchase official spare parts, tools, and manuals to repair components like displays, batteries, cameras, and charging ports.

Brian Naumann, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare, stated that the goal is to create durable products that last long. The self-repair option will be available for iPad models such as Pad Air (M2 and later), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro), and iPad (A16). This expansion follows the inclusion of other Apple devices like the iPhone 16e, MacBook Air, and Mac Studio in the self-repair program.

Apple has been increasing its repair services through various channels, including Apple Store locations, Authorised Service Providers, Independent Repair Providers, mail-in repair centers, and the Genuine Parts Distributor program. The iPad self-repair update will roll out on May 29 in the UK and Europe.
