eBay has implemented significant changes to its fee structure, resulting in reduced costs for buyers. The platform has decreased the Buyer Protection fee from 75p to 10p.

Additionally, a new tiered fee system has been introduced for customers. Previously, buyers paid 4% of the item price for items up to £300 and 2% for any amount between £300 and £4,000.

Under the revised structure, eBay users will now pay 7% of the item price for items up to £20, 4% for amounts between £20 and £300, and 2% for values between £300 and £4,000. No fee is applicable for items valued over £4,000.

Previously, an item priced at £10 would have incurred charges of £1.15, which has now been reduced to 80p. Similarly, an item selling for £100 would have accrued fees of £4.75, now decreased to £4.70.

The new fees apply to all listings except for cars, motorcycles, vehicles, classified ads, and property. If multiple units of the same item are purchased, the 10p flat fee is only charged once.

eBay is also rolling out faster payment processing for select sellers, starting from August 6. Sellers meeting specific criteria, such as ten sales totaling £150 or more in the past five days with no more than two unresolved cases in the previous 12 months, will receive sale proceeds within 24 hours of a transaction.

Previously, sellers had to wait two days post-delivery confirmation to access their funds. Last year, eBay eliminated selling fees, allowing sellers to retain more earnings by waiving final value fees, regulatory operating fees, and insertion fees.

While selling fees remain for automobile listings, fees for fashion items were removed last year. The platform has introduced “Simple Delivery” as the default shipping method, where postage costs are calculated based on parcel size, and sellers can choose carrier drop-off or home delivery.

Sellers are provided with a QR code or label by eBay for posting items. Some listings are exempt from “Simple Delivery,” including low-cost items, bulky goods, and items for local pickup.
