A tragic incident unfolded as a 15-year-old girl, Beatriz Costa Diniz, lost her life due to electrocution from her phone while it was charging. The unfortunate event occurred in Jutai, Brazil, where Beatriz was found injured by her father. She had been using her plugged-in phone when a powerful electric shock struck her, resulting in severe burns. Initially taken to a nearby hospital, her condition demanded specialized care, leading to transfers between three hospitals, with the final stop being intensive care.

Despite receiving prompt treatment, including surgery, Beatriz succumbed to her injuries on January 19, sparking grief and shock among the community in Augusto Corrêa, where she was well-regarded for her kindness and involvement in supporting her family through selling tapioca flatbreads. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with local authorities treating it as an accidental death caused by an electric shock.

Following the tragedy, local energy officials inspected the area’s power network for any irregularities but found no evidence of disruptions. While reports suggest an electric shock as the cause of death, social media sources mention a possible mobile phone charger explosion. Experts caution against using devices while they are charging, emphasizing the risk of electric shock if chargers are damaged or substandard. Furthermore, they advise against handling plugged-in devices with wet hands or close to water sources to prevent such incidents.
