Guy Hovis, a renowned singer, has passed away at the age of 86 after battling illness in the hospital. Known for his appearances on The Lawrence Welk Show, Hovis had a successful career with 15 albums and even performed at President George W. Bush’s inauguration.
Teaming up with his former wife Ralna English, they formed the singing duo ‘Guy & Ralna’ and were regulars on Welk’s show. Hovis’ daughter, Julie, shared the news of his peaceful passing in Oxford, Mississippi.
Julie revealed that her father had been in the hospital for several weeks due to an undisclosed illness. Ralna English, Hovis’ former wife and performance partner, informed her followers on Facebook that his condition had worsened before his peaceful passing.
After their separation, Hovis remarried Sarah “Sis” Lundy and they have three children and five grandchildren together. Hovis received accolades from the Gospel Music Association and performed at George W. Bush’s inauguration in 2005.
